Double slaying suspect asks judge to dismiss case

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Attorneys for one of four defendants accused in the deaths of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom are asking a judge to dismiss charges against their client.

The defense for George Thomas says the state has failed to provide the facts and evidence to go forward in the case.

Lemaricus Davidson, Letalvis Cobbins and Vanessa Coleman are the other three defendants. All four could face the death penalty if they're convicted of carjacking, raping, torturing, and then murdering Christian and Newsom in 2007.

The first trial for one of the defendants, Letalvis Cobbins, is set to begin in August.
