KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Another defendant has filed motions for charges to be dropped in connection with the murders of a young Knoxville couple, Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom.
Defense attorneys for suspect Lamarcus Davidson file the paperwork late Wednesday asking the judge to drop charges against him for reasons of insufficient evidence.
Davidson's attorneys are using the same argument made on Tuesday by attorneys for fellow suspect George Thomas.
The latest filings for the defense also ask that defense attorneys be allowed to ask potential jurors whether they think the death penalty is more expensive to the state than life imprisonment.
Davidson, Thomas, and two others face the death penalty in connection with the 2007 murders of Christian and Newsom.
Thomas's trial is set to begin in August.
