UT says no contract yet for Pearl

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- I's are still being dotted and T's are still being crossed, and Bruce Pearl is waiting to make it official.
A spokesperson for the University of Tennessee athletics department says Pearl has yet to sign a contract extension that would make him the 3rd highest paid basketball coach in the SEC.
In April, Pearl agreed in principal to a 6-year deal after the University of Memphis indicated some interest in hiring the Tennessee head coach.
Despite a published report saying Pearl had signed the deal on Tuesday, UT spokesperson Tiffany Carpenter told WATE 6 Sports that nothing has been signed yet.
Pearl is about to enter his fifth season as Tennessee's head coach. The Vols have been to the NCAA tournament for four consecutive years under his leadership.
