Cumberland Gap man arrested for home invasion, beating, stabbing

CUMBERLAND GAP (WATE) -- A Cumberland Gap man was arrested Thursday night for a home invasion that left another man beaten and stabbed, according to the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department.

Eddie Gent, 40, is charged with aggravated robbery.

Officers responded to the home of  J.C. Yoakum, 66, at 944 Tipprel Road in Cumberland Gap around 8:00 p.m.

They found Yoakum's door had been forced open and he had a beaten head and several knife wounds.

Yoakum was taken to Claiborne County Hospital and then flown to UT Medical Center.

Gent is being held in the Claiborne County Jail. He was arraigned Friday and his bond was set at $100,000.
