ELGIN (WATE) -- Jerry Wayne Walker is charged with attempted murder after officers say he shot his ex-girlfriend, Jade Sexton, in the face.
It happened Friday night at a home in the 2500 block of Rugby Highway near Elgin.
Sexton's grandmother, Maxie Overton, says the family is still in shock. "It's just so hard to imagine. We don't know what to think."
Deputies say Walker confronted Sexton on her front porch when she arrived home Friday night. The two got into a fight and then, according to deputies, Walker pulled out a gun and shot Sexton twice in the face.
Overton says she only met Walker a few times before Sexton ended the relationship.
"He seemed fine, but then again I didn't really know him that well," Overton said.
Walker was found shortly after midnight in Morgan County. He's being held at the Scott County jail on a $2,500,000 bond.
Officials say the TBI is also involved now.
Sexton is at UT Medical Center.
