KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- The court held an additional round of jury selection at the Civic Coliseum Monday for the trial of LeMaricus Davidson, a defendant in the Christian - Newsom murders.

One hundred twenty-five people received a 24 page questionnaire to complete.

The court had this group go through the process in case the first jury pool fails to supply 15 jurors.

After turning in the questionnaires, the people were told whether they could be called back on September 21 for individual questioning. The clerk's office says most of the 125 were put on stand-by.

A total of 800 people were called for the routine jury summons which happens six times a year.

Judge Richard Baumgartner chose to use the group as an additional pool for Davidson's trial.

The goal isn't finding people who haven't heard of this case. In fact, "If you live in Knox County and you haven't heard about this case, I don't know where you have been," Judge Baumgartner said Monday.

The goal is finding people who can be impartial jurors.

The judge urged the jury pool to avoid any publicity dealing with the case and to guard against misinformation, saying not to believe everything they hear.

Davidson wasn't at the prelimary jury selection Monday, like he was in the first round. Potential jurors were told they could be deciding whether he lives or is sent to death row.

Testimony in the trial is expected to begin on October 5.

Davidson is the only one of the four defendants in the murders to request a jury from Knox County.

The jury for the trial of George Thomas is being selected in Hamilton County.

Davidson's half-brother, Letalvis Cobbins, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for his role in the slayings.

Vanessa Coleman's case is on appeal and no trial date has been set.
