SURGOINSVILLE (AP) -- A Surgoinsville company that makes glass for appliances plans an addition and says employment could double.

Contour Industries Inc. plant manager David Tomlinson told the Kingsport Times-News the company will build a new 58,000-square-foot plant on its Phipps Bend Industrial Park property.

Tomlinson said construction to begin later this year will result in the eventual hiring of between 50 and 100 workers.

Contour now employs 100 workers.

The company said sales are up 33 percent for 2009.

Its products include refrigerator shelves, oven doors, washer lids, dryer fronts and stove control panels.
