CHATTANOOGA (AP) -- The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is focusing a reforestation effort in the cities.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported Chattanooga is using a grant to help add 207 trees, which will help reach its goal of doubling the number of trees in the downtown business district.

A total of $252,000 in grants will help 28 cities plant more trees.

The newspaper reported Pikeville is adding 40 trees to its downtown streetscape, Crossville will put 57 trees in a cemetery and around a new library and Sweetwater will improve a part and the city entrance at Highway 68 with more trees.

In Kimball, Mayor David Jackson said a new park will gain appeal with trees being planted with the state funds.
