KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- On Wednesday it was announced that Tennessee senior basketball player Josh Tabb has withdrawn from UT.

Vols head coach Bruce Pearl said Tabb returned home to Illinois to be closer to his mother, who is ill.

In a statement released by the University of Tennessee's Sports Information Department, Pearl said, "Josh needs to be near his family right now. We all care very deeply about Josh, and we hate to see him have to leave. It's been a very tough year for him, and everyone here understands that he has to be with his mother at this time."

Tabb was serving an indefinite suspension from the Vols since mid-September.
