KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- The Tennessee Volunteers hadn't played a home game on Halloween in 67 years.
They made it a night to remember.
The Vols warmed up in their traditional orange jerseys, but changed in the locker room and ran through the "T" in black jerseys with orange numerals. Like them or not, the team played one of their best games of the season with those uniforms, beating South Carolina 31-13.
The Vols (4-4, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) defense forced three fumbles in the first half, and converted each turnover into touchdowns. Overall, South Carolina had four turnovers.
UT quarterback Jonathan Crompton threw for 140 yards and had two touchdown passes. Montario Hardesty had two touchdown runs and 120 yards on the ground for the Vols.
This was believed to be the first time Tennessee wore black jerseys since 1921.
