KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Donations are pouring in for a dog that was dragged nearly a mile through northwest Knoxville Tuesday.

The dog is recovering at UT's veterinary school.

The school has received at least 30 phone calls and emails from people who want to donate money towards the dog's care. About $2,000 has been raised so far.

The Humane Society and Young-Williams Animal Center are helping pay for the dog's medical care.

If you would like to help, donations to the dog's fund can be made to:

The Small Brown Dog Fund
UTCVM Development Office
2407 River Drive
Knoxville, TN 37996-4550

As for the questions about adoption, the dog will have to stay at the vet school under protective custody until it recovers and undergoes several tests.

The man accused of dragging the dog, Jimmy Lovell, 45, is facing aggravated animal cruelty charges. He bonded out of jail Friday.
