KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- It's the giving season, but it's also deer hunting season.
A Tennessee Wildlife Federation Program is helping hunters feed the hungry.
Deer hunters can bring whole deer to be processed at places like Hamilton Meats in Johnson City. Then workers pack up the venison and give it to local charities.
Food banks like the Good Samaritan Ministries appreciate the deer meat, since their meat freezers empty out so quickly.
So far, Hamilton Meats has already collected over 170 pounds of deer meat. Each pound can feed about three people
