Cobbins' sentencing delayed 3 months in Christian-Newsom murders

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Letalvis Cobbins won't learn his sentencing for his lesser charges in the Christian-Newsom murders until next year.

Cobbins was scheduled to be sentenced on November 20, but the court agreed to push the date back to February 4.

The charges include facilitation of first degree felony murder, especially aggravated robbery, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape.

Cobbins is already serving life in prison without parole for Channon Christian's murder. The jury sentenced him just after he was convicted.

By law, he still has to be sentenced on his other convictions.

He was moved to a maximum security facility in West Tennessee recently, after the victims' families asked why he was being held in a medium security facility.

State Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) called Gov. Phil Bredesen about the families' concerns.
