KNOXVILLE (AP) -- Scott Hopson continued his early season scoring pace with a career-high 25 points and the Vols set a school record for most points scored in a game when they beat North Carolina-Asheville 124-49 Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.

It was Bruce Pearl's 100th win with Tennessee. He becomes just the fifth coach in school history to reach that mark.

"We made some plays in pressure early that kind of got us on our run and obviously we played unselfish basketball," Pearl said after the game.

The No. 10 Vols improve to 2-0 on the season.

Five other players scored in double-figures.  Sophomore guard Bobby Maze scored 14, and Cameron Tatum added 13. Wayne Chism, Renaldo Woolridge, and transfer guard Melvin Goins each scored 11.

"This is Tennessee basketball at it's finest. Creating turnovers and opportunities to score and getting up and down the floor is what we do best and what we're going to keep doing'" said Maze.

After the game the Vols left for a tournament in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
