CHATTANOOGA (AP) -- The historic Walnut Street Bridge will close for five months beginning in December to replace asphalt with timbers.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the pedestrian-only bridge will close Dec. 10 and reopen in May.
The 2,376-foot-long bridge across the Tennessee River, built in 1890, was closed to motor vehicles in 1978.
