KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- A jury of 12, with three alternates, was seated Monday for a second trial of Raynella Dossett Leath, the Knox County widow accused of murder in the deaths of two husbands.
The trial is the second for Dossett Leath in the shooting death of her second husband, David Leath, in March 2003.
Her first trial ended with a hung jury 10 months ago.
Nine women and six men are on the jury this time. Opening arguments are scheduled for January 19.
Dossett Leath has maintained in both trials that her husband shot himself.
She's separately charged in the 1992 death of Ed Dossett, and that case is scheduled for trial in August.
Dossett was the Knox County district attorney when he died on his farm. The cause of his death was initially believed to be accidental when he was trampled by cattle.
But prosecutors are now trying to prove Dossett, who had cancer, died from an intentional overdose of morphine.
