KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Will Muschamp has slowed speculation that he's the next head coach at Tennessee.
In a statement released through a spokesperson, the Texas defensive coordinator told the Dallas Morning news that "I'm happy at Texas and plan to be here a long time." Muschamp also told the paper he hasn't interviewed for any other jobs and has no intention to do so.
On Wednesday night, volquest.com reported Tennessee athletics director Mike Hamilton was in Texas. Hamilton stated during a press conference in Knoxville that he hoped to have a new head coach named soon.
Interim Tennessee football coach Kippy Brown said an announcement could happen as soon as Friday.
Brown, who has extensive experience as a college and NFL offensive coach, said he is definitely interested in the job and called himself a "legitimate candidate."
