Tennessee governor's office okays closing state offices due to weather

Posted:

NASHVILLE (AP) -- Tennessee state offices were allowed to close Friday because of the winter weather.

A release from Gov. Phil Bredesen's office said state agencies could close offices in counties in the Central time zone at noon and in the Eastern time zone at 2:00 p.m.

Department of General Services spokeswoman Lola Potter said officials in each county could decide whether it was necessary to close offices there.

State inclement weather policy allows the governor's office to decide to close offices on a county-by-county basis.
