KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- The man accused of shooting the principal and assistant principal of Inskip Elementary School Wednesday was arraigned Thursday morning on charges of attempted first degree murder.

Mark Stephen Foster, 48, a fourth grade teacher at the school is accused of shooting Principal Elisa Luna and Assistant Principal Amy Brace.

Foster was arraigned in the Knox County Detention Facility on two counts of attempted first degree murder and a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon on school property with intent to go armed.

Bond was set at $1.005 million.

According to a police affidavit filed in the case, Foster entered the school office and lured Luna and Brace into the principal's office, where he shot them multiple times at close range with a hand gun.

He was arrested a short distance from the school after being stopped in a construction zone.

Former co-workers say Foster has a history of mental instability and violent outbursts.
