MARYVILLE (WATE) - A former Greenback School teacher's aide was arrested and charged in Blount County with statutory rape by an authority figure after an investigation that spanned two counties.

According to Blount County Sheriff's Office, the case involving Amy Elizabeth Kennedy, 42, Johnson City, was forwarded from the Loudon County Sheriff's Office to Blount County investigators on April 13.

The report indicates that the alleged victim in the case told investigators that a sexual encounter with Kennedy took place at a Blount County business.

Kennedy was previously investigated in December 2009 after allegations she had a relationship with "at least two high school students at Greenback School."

Kennedy was arrested at a Johnson City residence on Wednesday and brought back to Blount County where she was charged.

She was freed on a $50,000 bond and she's due for a court hearing on June 21 in Blount County General Sessions Court.
