KINGSTON (WATE) - A man's body was found Friday morning on Interstate 40 in Roane County after it was thrown from his car and run over.

He was identified as Anthony D. Basler, Jr., 23, of Kingston.

When a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper arrived at the scene at 6:20 a.m., Basler's body was lying in the roadway. According to THP, it was run over several times by oncoming traffic.

Basler was driving a 1998 Plymouth westbound on I-40 when he went on the grassy median and overcorrected to the right.

His car crossed both lanes of traffic, went off the right side of the interstate, hit an embankment and overturned.

The car finally came to a stop across the right lane on its top where it was hit by a 2007 GMC NC1 pickup truck driven by Jason P. Siverling, 34, of Knoxville. Basler's body was thrown from the car.

All westbound lanes were closed for about five hours. Traffic on the interstate was diverted to alternate routes.
