Cumberland County Schools devise make-up plan for snow days

Posted: Updated:

CROSSVILLE (WATE) - The Cumberland County School District will make up one snow day by holding classes on the President's Day holiday, Monday, February 21.

The school district has already used so many snow days this season that make-up time is necessary.

Other days may be made up by adding 43 minutes to the school day, adding 30 minutes to the school day, attending school on Saturdays or taking days from spring break.

Director of Schools Aarona VanWinkle said the missed days could have an impact on student scores on required assessments, scheduled for April.

VanWinkle has been gathering input from schools, parents and teachers and is expected to announce a decision on Wednesday, February 2.

A survey is available on the school system website where you can give input.
