CHATTANOOGA (AP) -- Campaign finance records show North Carolina Sen. John Edwards leads the way in Tennessee for Democratic presidential hopefuls in raising funds.
But he has a long way to go to match President Bush.
Campaign watchdog group the Center for Responsive Politics says Edwards raised at least $200,000 in Tennessee through June 30th.
Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is a distant second, bringing in about $59,000.
Al Gore's running mate in 2000, Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, has raised $24,000.
The figures are based on contributions of $200 in which campaigns identify donors.
Center figures show the Democratic candidates have garnered nearly $313,000 for their campaigns. President Bush has more than doubled that, bringing in more than $685,000.
State party Chairman Randy Button says most Democrats will likely wait until after Tennessee's primary in February to throw their full support behind a candidate.
