MARYVILLE (WATE) - A horse trainer is no longer facing charges of horse abuse following an investigation into soring.

Larry Wheelon was arrested in April after several rescue groups and law enforcement agencies claimed they found horses on his farm that were in visible pain.

Nineteen horses were seized from Wheelon's farm. They will now be returned to their owners.

Wheelon sits on the ethics committee for the Tennessee Walking Horses Trainer's Association and has been cited by inspectors at least 15 times for violating the federal Horse Protection Act.
