Ky. mother charged with murder for baby's death

LONDON, Ky. (WATE) -- A mother is charged with the murder of her three-month-old after he tested positive for cocaine.

Sarah Jane Davenport, 24, of Corbin, took her three-month-old son to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin on November 19, 2005.

The infant was later pronounced dead by Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley.

An autopsy showed the baby boy had cocaine and extromethorphan in his system.

Police issued a warrant for the mother on Monday. She was arrested and charged with murder.

Sarah Davenport is being held in the Whitley County detention center.

The case is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police.
