KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- School board members, reacting to the news Knox County Superintendent Charles Lindsey is staying in town, are putting a positive spin on his recent job hunt.
Last week, Lindsey made the cut of six finalists for superintendent in Hamilton County. But on Saturday, the field was narrowed to three candidates who are all from out of state.
Local school board members say Lindsey's decision to look outside Knox is a positive reflection for the county.
"It's a part of every day life in your profession that you are aware of what opportunities are around you," says board member Karen Carson. "When you end up staying in your position, I think it helps you recommit to working hard in your position."
Lindsey wouldn't comment on camera last week about his decision to apply for a new job.
He only said that it would only distract from what's going on in Knox County.
