SEVIERVILLE (WATE) -- A house fire in Sevierville early Wednesday morning killed two people, including a mother of two.

Police aren't releasing much information, but the family confirmed the two who perished are 33-year-old Melanie Whaley and 40-year-old Steve Teaster.

Family members tell 6 News, the fire started around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday somewhere between the kitchen and living room at 1734 New Era Road.

Whaley and Teaster were trying to get out, but they collapsed by the door.

Family members say an autopsy shows both Whaley and Teaster died of smoke inhalation.

Fire officials have ruled out foul play but they are still investigating.
