VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Iran will not have much time to respond to an international offer of rewards aimed at halting its uranium enrichment.
Rice tells NBC "it really needs to be within weeks."
In separate comments on National Public Radio, Rice suggested she's ready to meet her Iranian counterpart, if Tehran agrees to suspend the nuclear activity and negotiate the details of the deal.
The package agreed to Thursday carries the threat of U.N. sanctions against Iran.
Iran says it welcomes direct talks but rejects the condition that it first suspend uranium enrichment.
Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
