KNOX COUNTY (WATE) -- With Christmas coming up fast, a West Knox County business has left customers in a lurch when many really need the extra cash.
A sign on the door of e-Auctions, on Lovell Road, says the business would be moved by December 10 but it doesn't say where. It also leaves a number to call, (865)-671-7253, but the voicemail box is full.
According to workers at the business next door, owner John Wall carried several items out late Tuesday night. He hasn't been seen since although several customers tell 6 News he has their items or owes them money.
"I'd like to get my check for these items in the mail and just be paid for what I've sold. I hope the people that bought them have received theirs but I would like to hear from John and know where he is," says Gary Baker, of Lenoir City. He says he's owed less than $100.
Other customers stand to lose a lot more than that.
Joe Mattara entrusted e-Auctions with $2,000 worth of diamond jewelry. "At this point, I don't know what I'll do, probably call the police department. I'll probably never see the money he owes me but I'd like to get my stuff back."
Legal action may be the only remedy customers can take now. Knox County's business tax office has no record of e-Auctions.
The local Better Business Bureau has received some calls about e-Auctions but doesn't have any formal complaints filed so far.
