CHATTANOOGA (AP) -- A Chattanooga outdoors program funded by the Tennessee Department of Transportation will provide bicycles that employees of downtown businesses can borrow.
A spokesman for Outdoor Chattanooga says a trailer with about 14 bikes available for borrowing will be parked in front of different office buildings on a daily or weekly basis.
A $35,000 Tennessee Department of Transportation grant covers the cost.
TDOT spokeswoman Julie Oaks said the use of the commuter transportation assistance program grant money to lend bicycles is unique.
The city's bike lending is inspired by a successful health department program.
