CHATTANOOGA (AP) -- Tennessee Congressman Zach Wamp says he's considering a bid for governor in 2010.
The Chattanooga Republican told his hometown newspaper the Chattanooga Times Free Press Wednesday that first he's running for an eighth term in Congress next year.
Wamp said he won't make a formal announcement about the governor's race until after the 2008 election.
Democratic Gov. Bredesen is constitutionally prevented from serving more than two consecutive terms.
Wamp had considered running in 2006 for the Senate seat vacated by former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, but ultimately decided against it.
