POWELL (WATE) -- The Hallsdale - Powell Utility District is making drinking water available for people whose wells or springs have gone dry.

Officials at the utility say its supply may help resolve problems for some farmers who need water for their livestock during the drought.

The water is being sold for $5.00 per 1,000 gallons.

If you want to buy water, you can call to schedule a time at one of its two water treatment facilities or at its main office.

  • Melton Hill Water Treatment Plant off Clinton Highway in Anderson County
    phone: 945-2860
  • Norris Lake Water Treatment Plant in Sharps Chapel
    phone: 278-3612

Hallsdale - Powell's main office is at 3745 Cunningham Road. You can purchase water there during regular business hours Monday through Friday. The phone number is 922-7547.

If you want to buy water and haul it, you must bring a sanitized hose and a vehicle.
