ROCKWOOD (WATE) -- Toho Tenax America Inc., a carbon fiber manufacturer, will cut 69 jobs at its headquarters in Rockwood.
The state Department of Labor says the cuts began on January 15 and will continue through April 4.
The Department of Labor's rapid response team will hold a mass employee meeting on February 26 to inform people about their options and help them get assistance.
The plant makes carbon fiber for industrial, automotive, aerospace and sporting-goods manufacturers.
Toho Tenax is a subsidiary of the Japan-based chemical company called Teijin.
In 2007, when the Rockwood plant employed 170 workers, Toho Tenax invested $23 million to expand it.
Toho Tenax also has headquarters in Wuppertal, Germany and Tokyo, Japan.
