Woman dies after shooting at N. Knoxville laundromat

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- A woman who was shot outside of a North Knoxville laundromat early Friday morning has died, police say.

The victim, Lisa Wakefield, 41, of Knoxville, died at a hospital. Police say they're investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Police say two male suspects armed with handguns, tried to rob Wakefield and another man while they were doing laundry at the Woodland Coin Laundry at 916 E. Woodland Avenue.

Wakefield was sitting in a car when she was shot.

The man was sitting on a bench outside the laundromat. He wasn't injured.

The suspects fled on foot toward the Broadway Shopping Center near the intersection of Broadway and Woodland.

Police are looking for two black males in their mid to early twenties, about 5'9" to 6'0".

One man was wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt.

The other was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt.
