KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- An overnight armed robbery in east Knoxville leads to a foot pursuit and manhunt.

At 6:08, Sunday morning Knoxville police were dispatched to an armed robbery at the Kenjo Market at 1400 North Central St.

A dark skinned black male, wearing an orange bandana around his face entered the store with a silver handgun and demanded money.

Officers say the male fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and in an attempt to apprehend him a countywide broadcast of the suspects description was sent out.

A Sheriff's Department Sergeant saw a male matching the description of the subject standing in an alley between Scott Avenue and Oklahoma Ave.

When the officer approached the man he fled, leading to a foot pursuit through that alley to the area of Cornelia Street. Airwatch was enroute back to Knox county and also assisted in searching for the suspect.

The suspect was lost around an apartment building in the area but the suspect dropped money and an orange scarf that officers are unsure was used during the robbery.

According to Lt. Greg Hoskins the male stands about 5'9 and was wearing long  black shorts and a long sleeved white t-shirt.

There were no injuries reported in the robbery.
