Four Suspended for Jonesborough School Hazing Incident

Four Suspended for Jonesborough School Hazing Incident

January 11, 2004

JONESBOROUGH (AP) -- Four David Crockett High School students have been suspended for 10 days for taping a fellow student to a toilet seat and posting a photo of the prank around school.

That's for starters. The four wrestling team members must then meet with the discipline committee to see if further punishment is needed.

Principal Henry Marable says the boys who pulled the prank are good kids, but what they did wasn't acceptable.

It happened on December 11th and the boy's sister took down one of the photos and complained to Marable on January 8th.

Linda Clark, the boy's mother met with Marable on Monday and asked why nothing had been done after the incident.

Schools director Grant Rowland says Marable met with school athletic officials and the wrestling team on Monday, making it clear hazing isn't acceptable.

The four boys were suspended on Tuesday.
