Woman waits over a year for dentures from Morristown dentist

"I think he's just putting me off, putting me off. He's not going to make them. He's not going to do it.," Kathleen Evans says. "I think he's just putting me off, putting me off. He's not going to make them. He's not going to do it.," Kathleen Evans says.

Kathleen Evans is a widow who lives on a fixed income and cares for her elderly mother. She also wants her dentures from Dr. Paul Muscari.

6 On Your Side has contacted Muscari repeatedly about her situation but there's been no response or explanation.

Kathleen is forced to eat canned peas and soft meat now. She can't chew hard food. That's because her old set of lower dentures doesn't fit anymore and her new teeth are too big.

She's been waiting over a year for Muscari to prepare a new pair of false teeth for her.

Seven months ago, Kathleen showed 6 On Your Side new dentures prepared by Muscari that didn't fit. She paid for the teeth in late 2006.

Kathleen charged the new dentures to Care Credit and returned to Muscari's office for several fittings.

On "March the 13th, he done an impression. I went back April the 17th."

Kathleen recorded all her visits this year to Muscari's office. "May the 17th, I went back and he had some teeth made out of wax. He put them in my mouth and said the bite was off. June the 6th, I called him. She come back and said, 'He's with a patient. I'll call you back.' That's the last I've heard of it."

A letter from Care Credit written in April rejected Kathleen's dispute. She had objected to the delay in getting teeth that fit.

"The cardholder's responsibility is to work in good faith with the provider to reach a resolution of the problem," the letter says.

"I've worked with him. I have never missed appointments that I've had with him." And Kathleen's never missed a payment to Care Credit either.

"I think he's just putting me off, putting me off. He's not going to make them. He's not going to do it."

Kathleen and other patients have spoken with a state investigator about Dr. Muscari's delays in their cases.
