KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- In our conversation with Food City CEO Steve Smith we ask what's one the mind of many people: When will food prices will start to come down?
Smith also talks about why Food City is expanding while other businesses are failing due to the slow economy.
"We've got great people first and foremost, but we've always been a conservative company," he says. "And we haven't over-extended ourselves. We've tried to make good prudent business decisions. We've identified a lot of growth areas in East Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia that really are in need of a good grocery store and that's where we've tried to put our new stores."
Smith tells about his belief in the power of community involvement, plus Food City's commitment to NASCAR.
He also says whether he has any regrets in his life.
