Although the words "icon" and "legend" are often used to describe Dolly Parton, the term "East Tennessean" is clearly just as important to the multi-talented entertainer and business woman.
Her influence has extended well beyond her career, which began in country music, moved onto the pop charts, and eventually cast her as the star of her own TV show, feature films, made her a published author, and even brought her into music and television production.
Yet despite all of her recognition and importance in the entertainment world, Dolly calls the bronze statue of her on the courthouse lawn in Sevierville, her "greatest honor, because it came from the people who know me."
WATE 6 presents this special look at a special East Tennessean.
