News of Kim Kallenberg's suspension didn't come as a complete shock for some students at Powell High.

Rising sophomore Jesse Sellers said, "You hear about this stuff all the time so I don't know. It just sounds like rumors or something. I don't think anything is going on."

Another rising sophomore, Ali Shockley, said, "I'm not really surprised because, like he said, there's been rumors about that and stuff and so it's really not surprising."

Other students say they can't believe Kallenberg would be the target of any investigation.

Erin Dunaway said, "She seems very upstanding and like a decent woman."

According to Knox County schools spokesman Russ Oaks, the system has been investigating the claims for several weeks. "We've received information from a number of different sources from around the community."

Attorney Greg Isaacs says he's worried school officials are paying too much attention to rumor. "We're here about facts and the simple truth is, it's false."

"I hope they aren't true because usually, you hear things about this and they're not true, and it just turns a big deal out of nothing. So I hope they're not true," Dunaway said.
