ROCKWOOD (WATE) -- A doctor came forward Monday who says he may be able to help a Rockwood teen who cries tears of blood.
Calvino Inman, 15, has been crying bloody tears since May. Doctors had not been able to come up with a diagnosis or treatment.
Dr. James Fleming from the Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis heard about Calvin's story and has done case studies about bloody tears.
In fact, Dr. Fleming says he sees four to five cases per year.
While many bloody tears subside on their own, Dr. Fleming says this condition could be a symptom of something much more serious.
"Two things we've found that have been real problems are what we call bleeding disorders. And it's not hemophilia. It can be what's called Factor 8 or Factor 7 disorder and this is a disorder that can cause significant medical problems or life threatening problems. Another one is that he can have bleeding disorders associated with some medication or some exposure to something."
Dr. Fleming and Inman's family are setting up a tele-health conference in hopes of finding answers for the teen.
The family plans to fax Dr. Fleming all of Inman's medical records, including his CAT scan.
