Police: Second child dies after Memphis house fire

Posted: Updated:

MEMPHIS (AP) -- Memphis police say the second of two children found locked inside a house alone during a fire has died.

In a news release Monday, police identified the second child as two-year-old Catareon Dunn, who had been hospitalized in critical condition after the fire Oct. 19.

His brother, three-year-old Ladareon Dunn, was pronounced dead at Le Bonhuer Hospital the day of the fire.

Police say the boys' mother had left the children alone to run errands and did not learn of the fire until after the children had been taken to the hospital.

Police say the Shelby County District Attorney General's office has declined to file charges, but the case will be sent to the grand jury section for a final review.
