OAK RIDGE (WATE) -- A male student at Oak Ridge High School student was expelled in October for bringing a gun to school, officials confirmed Monday.
The student's name hasn't been released.
According to Larissa Henderson, director of pupil services for Oak Ridge School, a freshman admitted bringing a loaded handgun to school.
Henderson said the student didn't give a motive.
He showed the gun to friends and a couple of students told the assistant principal about it.
The principal also got a call from Oak Ridge police after they received a tip about the gun.
It's not clear what day the student had the gun at school.
He was suspended on October 14 and a disciplinary hearing was held the next day.
The student was expelled and chose an option to attend alternative school.
