KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- A controversial Knox County housing project for the homeless was scrapped Monday when Knox County commissioners voted it down.
A proposal to buy two acres of land for the housing project failed by a vote of 15-4.
Residents voiced their opposition to the plan after learning the 23-unit apartment building was located on Debusk Lane, across from a day care center and within walking distance of a liquor store.
