Knoxville safety ordinance for tire recycling plants passes

Posted:

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Tuesday night the Knoxville city council passed an ordinance to improve safety at Knoxville tire recycling plants.

The unanimous vote comes on the heels of a tire recycling plant fire this past April. It happened at the Max Tire Recyclers Warehouse.  The plant is just off of Boruff Street near Magnolia Avenue in East Knoxville. Firefighters battled the flames overnight before they were able to put them out.
