ALCOA (WATE) -- All flights nationwide are delayed 30 minutes, a McGhee Tyson spokesperson said Thursday.
A morning computer problem that was affecting all airports in the U.S. has been fixed, but the system is still running slowly.
The problems forced airport officials to manually enter information into the FAA system that collects airlines' flight plans.
The problem caused widespread flight cancellations and delays.
There's no danger to flights in the air, and flights are still taking off and landing said AirTran Airways spokesman Christopher White.
"Everything is safe in the air," he said.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest airport, was particularly affected.
The FAA said in a statement said, "We are investigating the cause of the problem. We are processing flight plans manually and expect some delays. We have radar coverage and communications with planes."
