
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WATE) -- A Clinton man struck by a hit-and-run driver in Lexington last weekend has died. The driver is still being sought by police.
The victim was Anthony Gibbs, 24.
Gibbs was hit by a 1999 silver Audi driven by Hector Alviter-Rivera, 23, of Lexington, at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, November 14.
Gibbs was crossing Nicholasville Road in front of a Five Guys restaurant when he was hit. Police say they think Alviter-Rivera had been drinking. He fled the scene.
Gibbs later died at UK Chandler Hospital. His family told police he was in Lexington working construction.
Lexington police found the Audi abandoned on a dead end street. They believe Alviter-Rivera may be planning to leave the area.
Police plan to charge Alviter-Rivera with leaving the scene of a collision and tampering with physical evidence. Both are class D felonies.
Police said they believe several witnesses saw the collision or the Audi. Anyone with information is asked call police at (859)- 258-3600. Callers can remain anonymous.
