Park rangers collecting evidence in elk poaching investigation

SEVIERVILLE (WATE) -- Park rangers said Friday charges are pending in last week's poaching of elk at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Someone tried to take an elk inside the Cataloochee area.

Rangers said they're still working to gather evidence. That evidence will be put into a report for the U.S. attorney.

The rangers' report will include the results of ballistics and other tests. They expect it will take several weeks to get the results.
