ROGERSVILLE (AP) -- Cats are being found duct taped and abandoned in garbage containers in Hawkins County.

The Kingsport Times-News reported Tuesday that four cats have been found during the past two weeks at a convenience center west of Rogersville.

Convenience center supervisor Jeff Owens said a cat was found two weeks ago in a garbage bin with its paws taped together.

Last Tuesday, center employees heard meowing and opened a box that had been taped shut to find two cats inside it.

Owens said he heard employees later found another cat in a taped box in a load of metal that had been dumped by county employees.

All four animals survived.

One ran away as soon as it was freed. The others were adopted by employees at Midway Recycling.
