KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Preparations are well underway in downtown Knoxville for a big celebration on New Year's Eve.
With the purchase of a First Night Button you can access the many events that are taking place in Market Square on Thursday night.
John Craig, executive director of the Market Square District Association, says the third annual event will definitely offer something for everyone.
Twelve different venues of entertainment will be available, with programs for kids beginning at 3 p.m.
"Events at the Tennessee Theatre run all the way until 9 p.m.," said Craig. "Then the rest of the venues kick in about 7 p.m. and their entertainment runs 7:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. And then everyone comes back to the square for the countdown, ball drop and fireworks to ring in the new year."
You can purchase your First Night admission button online at firstnightknoxville.com, at any Pilot location in Knoxville, and at any Market Square merchant.
The buttons are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event. Kids 6 and under are free.
Craig also notes that this year you will notice more venues are packed into a tighter area.
"Gay Street will be open, Wall, Union and Clinch will be closed, so basically the Square and the Krutch Park area will be the core," he said. "And then the venues themselves are either within that area or just outside so you can walk to everything."
